Derived from the Greek word “tribo” (to rub), triboelectricity is a natural phenomenon that Skytech has exploited to obtain an efficient separation of mixed plastics.

Thanks to TRIBLAST, our separation technology, the result of 10 years of research and protected by 4 patents, we manage to electrically charge polymer particles to separate them accurately. This high performance dry sorting makes it possible to isolate ABS, PS and PP with a record purity rate of 99%, offering a second life to deposits formerly considered impossible to recycle.

The result is a revolution for the circular economy: a production of premium resins made without solvent, without water and with very low energy consumption. What is triboelectricity?

Triboelectricity is a physical process of electrostatic separation by friction. To illustrate this in concrete terms, this is the phenomenon that allows a rubbed plastic ruler to attract light particles. On an industrial scale, Skytech uses this principle to electrically charge plastic flakes. This proprietary method makes it possible to separate the various polymers with extreme purity, without the use of water or chemical agents, guaranteeing a sorting process with low environmental impact.
What is your expertise in formulation and granulation?

After the separation phase, we undertake a critical formulation and granulation stage to transform the sorted material into ready-to-use resources. By heating the polymers to more than 200°C and by integrating specific additives (glass fibers, antioxidants, pigments), we restore the initial technical specifications (shock resistance, thermal stability, colorimetry). This advanced know-how, which makes it possible to produce grades “on demand”, is protected by 5 patents currently being filed.
